Summary: A lovely little basement flat, just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside. A parking space right next to the flat, which is a huge bonus in Ambleside. The flat is situated on a hill with lovely views across the fell and the terrace gets full sun in the afternoon and evening. The flat is a basement flat and so is naturally quite dark. However there is plenty of lighting. Essentials such as toilet paper, washing up liquid, bedding and soap is provided but you need your own towels, shampoo etc. A hairdryer is provided. The lounge/kitchen is lovely. You are provided with everything you need for your stay, including a fridge with and ice box, washer/dryer, microwave, kettle, cooker and all the utensils you'd need. I only used the kettle as I ate out every night. The bathroom and bedroom are small but perfectly serviceable. Both were clean and the bed was comfortable. The flat does feel a little damp - I couldn't get anything dry on the drying rack (you're not permitted to put a drying rack outside the flat), the sofa's felt a little damp and there was a slight musty smell as you walked in. However, this wouldn't put me off booking again - it's a basement flat in an old building so there's probably no damp-proofing. Likewise, there is next to no sound-proofing. I could hear the couple in the flat above me quite clearly but it wouldn't put me off booking again due to the location and price of the appartment. All in all, a nice flat and very helpful hosts.
