Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The hostel was not very busy most of the time I was there, the beds were curtained and had their own outlets and lights, the garden out back was a really nice haven except now and again when there was too much drinking and cigarette smoke. The staff was friendly and helpful, although some of them had very limited English.

Negative: The bathroom was a bit iffy, there was a piece of tile missing and the hole filled with water so I kept getting my pants legs wet. The kitchen had a lot of appliances, but the stove and pots were low quality, it was outside and water got on things when it rained, and the table was small and made of bamboo slats. There's a busy laundry service in the same place, and it's on a busy road, so the common area inside was a bit hectic. Construction of additional bamboo pavilions was going on, which on the one hand was fascinating to watch, but on the other was sometimes noisy.

Summary: Sort of a work in progress, but I booked four days and then stayed on the rest of my month in Pai.
