Positive: Ladyvale Barn is situated at the end of a moorland lane, on the edge of the Cardinham Forest, near Bodmin, As such, it is extraordinarily quiet and secluded, with birdsong the only background sound. The barn has been very well converted, with reverse level accommodation. Entering from the road into the living space, there is a fitted kitchen in an open plan arrangement with the living space. Downstairs is a bedroom with kingsize bed and huge shower wetroom. The back door from the bedroom leads to a private patio with the hot tub. Stargazing from the hot tub and watching shooting stars, satellites and aircraft while soaking was definitely a highlight, as there is little light pollution in the area! There is an exclusive garden leading to the river, with a summer house for guests use. On arrival, the owner met us and showed us around, and left us with a small pack of essentials (a pint of milk, tea, coffee, some snacks and a beer or two...). It was very clean and is well stocked with everything you might need for your stay, including a Tassimo coffee machine, full size cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher etc. An annex contains a utility with washer and dryer, and storage for bikes if you bring them. Walking and mountain biking enthusiasts will find the Cardinham forest trails within 2 minutes of the front door, and there are plenty of other activities and sights within reasonable driving distance, such as Eden, Kerdroya, Bodmin Jail. The Moor is in easy reach, as are the north and south coasts.

Negative: There was nothing we didn't like, the whole set up is geared to making your stay as pleasant as possible. The new hot tub is definitely a good investment on the part of the owners.
