Positive: I was on my way from Copenhagen to Khao Sok, and I thought it would be easier to split the journey and have one night in Surat Thani. In retrospect, moving forward to a hotel in Khao Sok was not necessary. The bus journey from the hotel in Khao Sok to the national park was about an hour, and it would have been more or less the same duration directly from Surat Thani. The person staying in the room beside me was a young lady from Belgium, and we both chose this room because of its price, primarily. It was as cheap as a dormitory room, but with privacy. To be perfectly honest, I enjoyed dormitory life very much, and staying one night in a private room was not a big bonus for me in retrospect. The room was reasonably sized. The bed was absolutely fine, quite big, and there were plenty of different lights in the room, daytime lights and nighttime lights, and a large balcony. The property has some inner garden, which is half wild, half cultured, with large lizards hanging around. So I walked around there a little bit, but there are no walking paths. The main disadvantage of this place is its remoteness. There's nothing really interesting nearby in walking distance, and since I didn't rent a car or a motorbike, I felt quite isolated. I gave this stay a grade of 10, even though when clicking on the emojis for level of satisfaction, I generally just chose the moderate smiling face and not the super smiling face for most issues. I just can't really think of a good number value to give to my stay from 1 to 10, other than 10, though in terms of my enjoyment, it was probably more like an 8 or a 7. I'm not sure how you would even quantify that. Well, I'm rambling on here. Anyway, the only thing perhaps I can contribute is just to let you know that the soap portions are quite small, and also there was only one soap that I was able to use. Also, there was only one staff person while I was there, and he didn't speak a word of English.
