Positive: Very sweet little property ideally located in central Grantchester, nice and quiet at night. An awful lot of love and work has clearly been put into the property and there were lots of lovely finishing touches to make it homely. It was very well equipped. The shower was great, decent water pressure.

Negative: Despite the lovely brand new double glazed sash windows, it was quite cold, and there were electric storage heaters, so tricky to keep the house at an even temperature when we were out (the instructions were to leave the heaters off when away from the property), and consequently the air was dry, which gave us sore throats. There were no external security lights at the cottage at the front or back doors. This caused me anxiety when arriving and leaving the property in darkness (it’s winter) and also when letting the dogs out into the garden overnight for comfort breaks. The coat pegs in the living room were above a bookcase which was covered in clutter and reed diffusers, so we couldn’t hang our coats. I didn’t like the bedroom, found it almost impossible to sleep. I kept tripping over the overly long curtains in the bedroom when getting in and out of bed (because the bed was so close to the window). At the end of the stay, I was tidying up, couldn’t find the correct wheelie bins, despite the comprehensive instructions. Parking was tricky when coming back at the end of the day, it wasn’t so easy to get a spot anywhere near the cottage late in the evening. We were most put out by the lack of clarity on dog charges. There was absolutely no information on this at the time of booking, so we were disappointed to be contacted directly via WhatsApp during our stay and asked to pay an additional £45 to a home letting company, ie not via booking.com. Had we known of this additional charge we would have stayed elsewhere, in a 5* hotel where we would have got parking and breakfast included for the same price.
