Positive: We had an unbelievable stay with Jittra and Gai. They were very welcoming, and after explaining, my sister has twisted her ankle recently. Gai adapted our trip to Tham Lod cave to make it possible for us both to visit this spectacular place. Gai is born and raised in Tham Lod , so as a guide, he is amazing, explaining in detail the history of the cave and the surrounding area with great pride and knowledge. By staying at their homested, we were able to visit the caves after the day tourists had left, and witnes the awsomme sight of the swifts returning to the cave and the bats going off into the night. Jittra also accompanied me to the Tuesday market where hill tribe people join together to sell their wares. She spent time explaining the different foods and spices. Jittra cooked us amazing food during our stay. Gai also does one to three day trecks, for more active guests (I wish I was ten years younger ) as his knowledge and good Engish speaking skills would make these trips fabulous. I really would recommend staying for at least 2 nights to take a tour with Gai rather than doing a long arduous day trip from Pai with a guide who doesn't have the knowledge and enthusiasm of Gai. We hope to return one day.
