Positive: The location is amazing, ive been to Ko Samet for over 25 years, and this place is just like it was 20 years ago, if you're looking for modern concrete bungalows that look like any country, this is not for you, If you're looking for rustic, wonderful thai paradise with helpful and lovely staff. Amazing views of the ocean with an incredible sand beach and 2 very cool Thai-style bars/rasta bars where you can drink, smoke, and mingle with expats, local Thais and holiday makers/backpackers from all countries this is great. The rooms are a little old in the place which they are working on, but this is fine of your looking for authentic, and the aircon works fine. Ive seen some bad reviews from others on here (European/U.S. expectations of 3-4 star, seems there looking for luxury, hey this is a Thai island, good luck with that lol), here you get adventure and authentic experience, also food is OK, its a small family run busienss, but you get a breakfast included (Thai or western food) and have access to plenty of other beach restaruants too on the next beach up at Cabana, so if your looking for burgers and fries, stayin America or Europe.

Negative: On entering the whole beach road there is a lot of recycling and rubbish that has been collected, this was at first a bit of a shock as you think it's a waste dump (i get it, removing this from an island takes time) but once your past this section and on to the beach and the resorts its magical. My advice would be for the locals/bar owenrs, resort owners) to join together, find a way of moving this or at least creating a way of hiding it from anyone who comes ot this beach. As first impressions count and it really looks awful but I get it niots an easy thing to solve.
